KJ & V Green [Holdings] Pty. Ltd. , a company formed in 1963 trading as Green Brothers and now also as "Musical Shack" is a family run musical business.
1967 Opened a complete music store at 86 William Street, Rockhampton selling the popular brands of the time including Yamaha, Kawai, Lowrey, Boosey & Hawkes etc.
1968 Instituted a music college teaching piano, organ, guitar etc.
1979 Continued expansion of their musical business until premises at 86 William Street became too small.
1979 A decision was made to purchase a building at 72 William Street, on the corner of William & Alma Streets. This building was internally modified to suit their requirements and was officially opened as a large modern music emporium in May 1979 by the then mayor R H Reginald J Pilbeam.
1987 A foundation member of the huge buying group "World of Music" giving customers access to top musical products at special prices all year round, & producing comprehensive catalogues.
Over the years this business has flourished - offering a vast range of quality music products and services to a community market. The store has continued to expand along the street, purchasing other buildings from 72 - 84 William Street.
The store gives strong support to organisations promoting music in particular the school educational music programs, local musical union, local & state eisteddfods competitions, brass & concert band competition sponsors and have conducted many musical clinics to show and give their clients the opportunity to get the most out of their musical purchases.
